According to the news released by JKR, the North-South Expressway from Penang to Johor will start implementing the RFID measure. This measure will be implemented from January 15, 2022.
The so-called RFID toll means that road users put RFID stickers on headlights or windshields of their vehicles, and the system will read the RFID sticker information and deduct the toll from the owner’s e-wallet when passing through the toll booth. All the vehicle owner needs to do is to reduce the speed of the vehicle. RFID system can read the information of vehicles traveling at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
Currently, road users can still use the Touch ‘n Go card and SmartTAG method to pay tolls, but these two methods will be phased out.
