No more SMS OTP! Maybank will only use Secure2u from July!

19/05/2023

Attention Maybank users! Maybank officially announced that from July 1, all online bank card transactions could only be verified through Secure2u identity verification, cancelling the one-time SMS password (SMS OTP).

Maybank has been recommending users switch from SMS OTP to Secure2u. And Secure2u is the safer and faster way to approve Maybank2u and MAE transactions. Users can receive the verification pop-up window directly in the MAE App when they make transactions. Users only need to proceed with the transaction by clicking “approve” or “reject” in the pop-up window.

Compared with SMS OTP, Secure2U authentication is faster and more secure and reduces SMS fraud. Also, Secure2u has a 12-hour activation period to prevent unauthorized transaction approvals. So if you haven’t enabled the Secure2u function yet, hurry up!

How to enable Secure2u?

  1. Open the MAE App, click “More” in the lower right corner
  2. Select “Secure2u” and click Activate Now
  3. Confirm mobile number and enter SMS OTP verification code
  4. Enter the ID card number and confirm the name of the device
