No more mandatory temperature taking before entering a store!

07/02/2022

Health Minister said at a 5 p.m. news conference on Feb. 7 that the Ministry of Health will hold a ministerial meeting on Feb. 8, and then will officially announce the elimination of mandatory temperature measurement before entering a store or specific building.

The outbreak of covid began in 2020 when the government made it mandatory for all stores to be equipped with temperature measuring equipment and for all customers entering the store to have their temperatures measured. Any customer with a high body temperature would not be allowed to enter the store.

Since the country’s vaccination rate is already quite high and 99% of the recent new cases are patients with no symptoms or mild infections who do not have a fever, the mandatory temperature measurement requirement is no longer appropriate.

The Ministry of Health will remove the mandatory temperature measurement requirement, but the relevant organizations may also decide whether to continue to measure the temperature of their employees or customers. The measurement of body temperature will be optional; for example, schools may decide whether to measure the temperature of their students.
