New policies and major events to be implemented in November.

There are only two months left in 2023. Let’s take a look at the new policies and major events in November.

1. Public holidays
There are two public holidays in November, November 3rd and November 12th.
November 3 (Friday): Birthday of the Sultan of Perak
November 12 (Sunday): Deepavali (nationwide, except Sarawak)

2. School holidays
Primary and secondary schools will enjoy a 4-day school holiday in November! Primary and secondary schools in Group A states will be able to enjoy the four-day Deepavali school holiday from November 10 to November 13, 2023, while primary and secondary schools in Group B states will be able to enjoy the Deepavali school holiday from November 11 to November 11, 2023. There is a 4-day Deepavali school holiday on the 14th of September.

3. Distribution of STR aid
The fourth phase of STR assistance is expected to be distributed in November, but a disbursement date has not yet been announced. In addition, applications for next year’s STR aid are expected to be open in November.

4. National Bank Monetary Policy Meeting
The National Bank will hold a monetary policy meeting on November 2 and will announce whether to adjust the overnight policy rate (OPR).

5. Application for childcare subsidy for working women in Selangor is open
The Selangor state government will provide a childcare subsidy of RM1,000 to working mothers. Working mothers will be able to apply for the RM1,000 subsidy under the Working Women’s Childcare Subsidy Scheme (MamaKerja) from November 1, 2023.

The application conditions for the Child Care Subsidy Scheme for Working Women are as follows:
A. Applicants must be working women
B. Must be a Selangor citizen or have resided in Selangor for more than 10 years
C. Applicants must be voters voting in Selangor
D. Household income does not exceed RM8,000
E. Applicants must file a tax return or have a KWSP membership number
F. Applicants must also have at least 3 children under the age of 12
G. Applicants must not be beneficiaries of Asuh Pintar, Selangor Seedlings Scheme (TUNAS) and Selangor Happy Life Grant Scheme (Bingkas)

6. Pay with bank card using KTM
The 57 electric train stations (KTM) in the Klang Valley are expected to complete the installation of open payment systems in the coming November. After that, people can use credit cards, debit cards, touch and go cards or Malayan Railways The company’s software takes QR code payments.

7. Northeast monsoon season
my country may enter the northeast monsoon season in mid-November, during which there will be 4 to 6 heavy rains. From November to December, there will be several heavy rains in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, and Terengganu. From December to January, there will be several heavy rains in Johor and Sarawak.

8. Guanyin’s Birthday
November 2 is the third Guanyin Festival in 2023. There are three Guanyin birthdays every year, namely the Christmas Day of Guanyin Bodhisattva (the 19th day of the second lunar month), the Enlightenment Day of the Guanyin Bodhisattva (the 19th day of the 6th lunar month) and the Nirvana Day of the Guanyin Bodhisattva (the 19th day of the ninth lunar month).

9. TNG eWallet new measures
Touch ‘n Go eWallet will launch new measures starting from November 1st! If you recharge more than RM1,000 with a credit card, you will no longer be able to choose to change it to Non-Transferable Balance. Currently, when users recharge Touch ‘n Go eWallet with a credit card exceeding RM1,000, users can choose to turn the balance into Transferable or Non-Transferable. If you choose to become Transferable, you will need to pay a 1% handling fee, but if you choose Non-Transferable, you will not be charged a 1% handling fee.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet will also launch a customer loyalty program in November, allowing members to enjoy more benefits and convenience.

10. No plastic bags at Eco-Shop
According to a message from Eco-Shop, plastic will no longer be provided to customers starting from November 1, 2023. The purpose of this measure is to reduce the waste of plastic bags in line with the environmental awareness promoted by the government.

11. Chicken prices are free to float
The government announced that chicken prices will automatically float from November 1, while egg prices will continue to maintain the existing regulated product prices.

12. Trial run of targeted subsidy database
The government will conduct a trial run of the main database system (PADU) starting in November. This database will be used to implement targeted subsidy measures. The main database system will identify households based on their income, location and financial burdens, which will allow them to understand their net income to pay and also calculate how much subsidies should be provided to them.
