New policies and big events to be implemented in September!

August is over, ushering in a brand new September, let’s take a look at what new policies and big events will be implemented in September.

 

1. Public holidays

There are 2 public holidays in September, one is a national holiday and the other is a holiday restricted to specific states.
September 3 (Saturday): The anniversary of the late Sultan of Johor (Johor only)
September 16 (Friday): Malaysia Day (National)

 

2. School Holidays
Primary and secondary schools will enjoy a 9-day school holiday in early September.
Group A: Kedah, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu
Second term school holidays: Friday, September 2 – Saturday, September 10

 

Group B: Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya
Second semester school holidays: Saturday, September 3 – Sunday, September 11

 

3. Possible interest rate increase by Bank Negara
Bank Negara will hold a monetary policy meeting on September 7 and 8, and will announce whether to raise interest rates after the meeting. It is generally expected that the National Bank will announce a 25 basis points rate hike.

 

4. BKM Aid Disbursement
The third phase of BKM assistance will be released in September. The government has not yet announced the release date of the third phase of BKM assistance, but according to the previous releases, it is expected to be released at the end of September. Families with a monthly income of up to RM5,000 and singles with a monthly income of up to RM2,500 are eligible for the payment.

 

5. ASM 3 announces dividend payment
ASM 3 will announce its latest dividend payment at the end of September and trading will be suspended in the last week of September. The general expectation is that ASM 3’s dividend will not be optimistic, and will probably be only 3.75 cents.

 

6. Terengganu State Special Holiday
September 11 will be listed as a special holiday in Terengganu, which is to allow Terengganu Football Club supporters not to rush back home after watching the match on September 10.

 

7. Gardenia bread price increase
Gardenia confirmed that the prices of its 53 breads and food products will be increased from September, noting that Gardenia has been forced to increase the prices of bread due to the rising prices of raw materials such as wheat flour and vegetable oil, and that it will ensure that the quality of its food products will remain at the best level.

 

8. Monsoon change period
The country is expected to enter the monsoon alternation period in the third week of September. During the monsoon alternation period, violent storms and thunderstorms will occur along the west coast and inland areas of West Malaysia, the west coast of Sabah and west and central Sarawak.

 

9. 5G Network
The domestic telecommunications companies are expected to start rolling out their 5G networks one after another in September. It is understood that domestic telecommunications companies have already agreed to use the 5G network set up by DNB.

 

10. Adjustment of monthly salary limit for Perkeso insurance
The Parliament has recently passed the Employees’ Social Insurance Amendment Bill 2022, which raises the monthly salary limit for Perkeso from RM4000 to RM5000.

 

11. Restricted parking in busy commercial areas in Selangor
Selangor Subang Jaya City Hall has become the first local government in Malaysia to implement a 2-hour parking restriction in designated areas from 1 September 2022! These restricted parking areas will cost 50 sen per half hour and car owners can only park for a maximum of 2 hours.
