New Policies and Big Events in April.

2022 is entering its fourth month, which means we are already a quarter of the way through 2022. Take a look at what’s new and big this April.

 

1. Public Holidays

There are five public holidays in April, all of which are restricted to specific states.

April 3 (Sunday): First day of Ramadan (Johor, Kedah and Malacca only)
April 15 (Friday): Good Friday (Sarawak and Sabah only)
April 15 (Friday): Malacca Old Town Day (Malacca only)
19 April (Tuesday): Holy Koran Day (Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Putrajaya, Kelantan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Selangor and Terengganu only)
26 April (Tuesday): Sultan of Terengganu’s Birthday (Terengganu only)

 

2. KWSP Special Withdrawal

Applications for the KWSP will be open from 1 April and members can apply for a withdrawal of up to RM10,000. application results will be available from 9 April and remittances will be made to members who apply from 20 April.

 

3. Booster shot affects Mysejahtera status

MySejahtera will show the status of incomplete vaccination for those who are over 60 years old and over 18 years old who have not yet received the booster vaccination. However, these people are still allowed to eat in parishes, enter shopping centers, work in the workplace and pray in religious places.

 

4. Opening the country’s borders

We will enter the endemic transition phase from April 1. We will open our borders from April 1, and those who have completed the vaccination will be exempted from quarantine when entering the country, but only if they undergo PCR testing before departure.

 

5. ePemula e-purse reward

The government will issue the ePemula e-Purse Reward in mid-April for all eligible young people between the ages of 18 and 20. Full-time tertiary education students who are currently enrolled are also eligible for the ePemula Reward.

The RM150 ePemula eWallet Rewards will be distributed through 4 eWallets, namely BigPay, GrabPay, ShopeePay and Touch ‘n Go eWallet, and each person can only receive 1 eWallet Reward in any one eWallet platform.

 

6. Free tablets for tertiary students

The government is giving out free tablets to tertiary students! Applications for this program will open in mid-April and distribution to eligible post-secondary students will begin in June.

 

7. BE Tax Return Deadline

Working people who are not in business will need to use the BE form to report their income for the past year, and the deadline for filing is April 30.

 

8. High school students return to school

Secondary school students will be home for 2 weeks from March 21 to April 3 (PdPR) before returning to school in full from April 4. This means that secondary school students will no longer be in rotating groups, but will return to school in groups.

 

9. Preschool and P1 Registration Deadline

Online registration for Pre-K and Primary 1 will close on April 30. children born between January 2, 2017 and January 15, 2019 can attend Pre-K classes for the 2023/2024 school year. Any child born between January 2, 2016 and January 1, 2017 will be enrolled in the first grade in 2023. children born between January 2, 2017 and January 1, 2018 will be enrolled in the first grade in 2024.

 

10. PTPTN discount offer ends

Borrowers who pay off their PTPTN higher education loans in one lump sum will receive a 15% discount, borrowers who pay at least 50% of their loans will receive a 12% discount, and borrowers who amortize their loans through monthly payroll deduction or automatic debit will receive a 10% discount. Offer valid until April 30, 2022.

 

11. SSPN Additional 1% Bonus Ends

Attention all users who opened an SSPN account before December 31, 2018! Simply make a deposit between 22 February and 30 April 2022 , and receive an additional 1% bonus. Each user can earn a maximum of RM8,000 bonus and each user must deposit a minimum of RM500 to enjoy the bonus offer. In addition, users will not be able to withdraw their deposits from their SSPN account between 22 February and 31 July, otherwise they will not be eligible for the 1% bonus.

 

12. ASM Dividend Payout

ASM announced a dividend payout of 4 cents per unit, which will be credited to the subscriber’s ASM account on April 1.

 

13. J&T Shipping Service

According to the announcement issued by J&T Express Service, its ocean freight service will be suspended from April 1, 2022, people are urged to pay attention and plan their express mailings as early as possible.

 

14. POS raises fuel surcharges

POS has been forced to increase its fuel surcharge by up to 5% after the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine caused a sharp rise in the cost of aviation fuel. This measure will take effect on April 1, 2022.

Affected services include mailings from Peninsular West Malaysia to Sabah and Sarawak, and mailings from Sabah and Sarawak to West Malaysia.

 

15. 8TV adds Chinese news slots

According to a news release from 8TV, “8 Degrees Morning News” will be broadcasted every Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 45pm on April 8, 2022.

The program will be 15 minutes long and will include the most up-to-date domestic and international news, daily financial information, newspaper headlines in all languages, and weather forecasts.

 

16. AirAsia restricted check-in counters

From April 1, 2022, AirAsia will abolish counter check-in fees, meaning that no fees will be charged for checking in at the counter, although this will be restricted to certain passengers. Passengers who can continue to check in at the counter include seniors, frequent flyers, and passengers affected by flight cancellations.

 

17. Ramadan Government Department

April 3 is the first day of the annual month of Ramadan! The month of Ramadan will be celebrated by Muslims in the country. In conjunction with the month of Ramadan, various government departments in the country will also adjust their office hours. If you are planning to visit government offices during Ramadan, you should pay special attention to the latest office hours of government offices to avoid a wasted trip.

 

18. Ching Ming Festival

In 2022, Ching Ming Festival falls on Tuesday, April 5. The main purpose of Ching Ming Festival is to pay tribute to the ancestors and pray for their blessings, hoping that the ancestors will bless their children and grandchildren and solve their problems.

 

19. PISMP Application Deadline

Admissions to the Bachelor of Science in Teaching program will take place from March 15 to April 15, 2022. Those who are interested can apply online.

 

20. Ninso merchandise price increase

The prices of Ninso merchandise will increase from April 1! The price at Ninso branch in West Malaysia was RM2.20 and will be adjusted to RM2.30 from 1 April, an increase of RM0.10. The price at Ninso branch in East Malaysia was RM2.40 and will be adjusted to RM2.50 from 1 April.

 

21. TNG GO+ offer ends

Touch’n Go eWallet GO+ offer with extra 2% ROI will end on April 30. Touch’n Go eWallet will also launch personal loan or buy now pay later feature from April 1.
