According to former Prime Minister Najib’s Facebook post, RFID tags cost less than RM1, but now sell for as much as RM35. Najib believes that RFID tags should be provided to the public for free, rather than charging a high price of RM 35.
Najib also pointed out that if you do not want to provide free RFID tags, then please lower the price to RM 5. Najib also said that the government should not only care about the interests of the big banks, increasing the burden of people’s lives. touch ‘n Go should focus on the core business of e-wallets, not by selling RFID tags to make huge profits.
CIMB International Bank (CIMB), one of the equity holders of Touch ‘n Go, earned an extra RM1.16 billion in profit last year due to the appreciation of Touch ‘n Go.
