Najib believes that the government should not stop people from using micro-transportation!

In a Facebook post, former Prime Minister Najib said that the government should not stop people from using micro-transportation vehicles on the roads. Instead, the government should encourage the use of micro-transport. Micro-transportation will be the key to bridging the first and last mile.

If our public transport is to be successful, the link between the first and last mile needs to be the most effective, Najib said. The government is encouraging people to take public transport to reduce pollution in the city and also to slow down traffic congestion in the city.

The first mile is the journey from the starting point to the public transport station, and the last mile is the journey from the public transport station to the end point. It is assumed that people can use micro transport from their residential area to the LRT station and then transfer to the LRT station close to their place of work. Finally, they can rely on the microtransit to get from the station to their workplace, so that the whole journey is complete.

Najib believes that the government could consider increasing fines if it is concerned about the problems associated with micro-mobility, such as interference with road users and pedestrian traffic. He also believes that the government could require that every micro-mobility vehicle on the road needs to be approved for safety performance.
