Many people are confused as to who “takes care” of MySejahtera, because Health Minister Kerry stressed that MySejahtera is owned by the government and said that MySejahtera was not sold to a private organization, but only in negotiations to manage the purchase, not a private organization. It is not owned by the private sector. However, local media CodeBlue later released a new report showing that an agreement has been reached between Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd, formerly known as KPISoft Malaysia, and MySJ Sdn Bhd, with MySJ Sdn Bhd agreeing to pay Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd up to RM338.6 million for the MySejahtera App. MySJ Sdn Bhd agreed to pay Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd up to RM338.6 million to acquire MySejahtera’s intellectual property and software licenses.
According to information obtained by CodeBlue, MySJ Sdn Bhd shareholder P2 Asset Management Sdn Bhd sued Entomo, MySJ and another MySJ shareholder, Revolusi Asia Sdn Bhd, for alleged breach of the share sale agreement, and in a High Court statement filed on November 24, 2021, it was revealed that MySJ appears to have partnered with Entomo Malaysia on October 6, 2020. As a result, MySJ will pay Entomo a total fee of RM338.6 million for the transfer of the intellectual property rights of the MySejahtera application together with the licence of the software.
However, it is very strange that Entomo and MySJ Sdn Bhd have the same business address, both located at Q Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. According to the Malaysian Companies Commission records, MySJ Sdn Bhd was incorporated in September 2020 and its key board members include former Sapura Energy Bhd CEO Shahril Shamsuddin, Sime Darby Plantation non-executive chairman Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas, EcoWorld Malaysia executive chairman Liew Kee Sin and its chief financial officer, Heah Kok Boon.
On the other hand, Opposition Leader Anwar posted that Revolusi Asia Sdn Bhd, which owns 81.4% of MySJ, is 88% owned by the founders of KPISoft, which means the two KPISoft founders who developed MySejahtera hold 71.2% of MySJ.
It would be inaccurate to say that KPISoft or Entomo have nothing to do with MySJ Pte Ltd. Under a public tender, these facts would be subject to government and public scrutiny. In the case of direct negotiations, the deal appears to be similar to a model that rewards companies and individuals with political and business ties to the ruling government.
Even so, Health Minister Khairy hopes that the public will not be skeptical, as MySejahtera has been under the supervision of the health department since its inception, and all data management goes through a data management process established by the Ministry of Health. He pointed out that MySejahtera’s data is uploaded to the Cloud Server Network on a daily basis and can only be used and viewed by the MySejahtera application, and he promised that all Malaysian people’s data is protected and will not be leaked by the Ministry of Health.
