In response to the recent controversial MySejahtera contract issue, our Health Minister, Khairy, also responded to the various questions raised by the Upper House of Parliament regarding MySejahtera and emphasised that all information in the MySejahtera database is secure.

In fact, on April 1, 2020, the government signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement with Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd (formerly known as KPISoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd), the developer of MySejahtera, which guarantees that all information is in the sole possession of the government and that app data transactions are private. The data is uploaded to the cloud server daily and can only be used for the MySj App and outbreak related apps. The government has also said that the MySejahtera database of people checking in and punching out “Check-In” information is only for the use of the Ministry of Health in response to the outbreak and will be permanently deleted within 90 days. There is no archiving for 7 years as claimed.

At the same time, khairy also stressed that the identity of anyone who logs in to request information without the authorization of the Ministry of Health can be detected, and therefore urged everyone not to believe the unconfirmed rumours and not to be sceptical and continue to use MySejahtera. The health minister also revealed that MySejahtera’s servers are located in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, not abroad, and that the national cyber security agency regularly tests, tracks, and reviews MySejahtera’s data storage servers on a monthly basis to ensure that the information is not compromised.
