Billionaire Elon Musk said on Twitter that SpaceX might try to launch the Starship rocket system into orbit in March.
Reuters says that the launch of Musk’s “Starship,” a spaceship designed for trips to the moon and Mars, has been put off more than once, making many Internet users wonder if the ship is ready in the end.
Musk tweeted, “If the rest of the testing goes well, we will try to launch the starship next month.”
The report said that Musk said in January that there was a “real chance” the Starship could be launched in late February and that a launch attempt in March seemed likely.
SpaceX has been trying for years to launch its tall next-generation rocket system into orbit from the company’s launch facility in south Texas. Several Starship prototypes have flown in test flights at altitudes below 20 kilometers. The first launch of Starship into orbit was supposed to happen in 2022, but it has yet to happen.
The newspaper said this is an important test flight because NASA wants to send astronauts to the moon in the next few years.
“Starship is SpaceX’s next-generation launch vehicle. It will replace the current workhorse Falcon 9 on cargo missions and eventually take astronauts to the moon and Mars.”
Starship will be the giant spaceship ever made by humans. It will be able to hold more than 100 people.
