MSM Sugar Mills asks the government to review the price of white sugar!
MSM Sugar Mills (MSM) has asked the government to review the price of white sugar amid increasing cost pressures. Malayan Sugar Mills believes that raising the price of white sugar will not cause significant pressure on households.
MSM Sugar Mills points out that the government needs to give sugar mills the ability to maintain profitability while ensuring national food security and the well-being of the people. Currently, freight and gas energy prices are increasing, while the cost of sugar mills is also increasing due to foreign exchange fluctuations.
The current price of 1kg of crude sugar is RM2.85 and the price of 1kg of fine sugar is RM2.95. The government has adjusted the price of sugar in 2017 and 2018.
