Ministry of Health Updates Close Contact Isolation Measures, New Measures Effective April 22!

14/04/2022

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has updated its measures for the isolation of close contacts, which will take effect on April 22, 2022.

According to the news issued by the Ministry of Health, asymptomatic close contacts do not require mandatory isolation. Previously, asymptomatic close contacts who have received booster shots were exempted from mandatory isolation, but the latest update is that as long as they are asymptomatic, they are exempted from mandatory isolation regardless of whether or not they have received booster shots.

As for symptomatic close contacts, they will only be tested for RTK-Ag on the first and third day, and will be allowed to go outdoors once the test is negative or the symptoms have subsided.

1. Asymptomatic close contacts

Asymptomatic close contacts do not need to be isolated, although they need to follow specific measures during the 5 days of exposure to a confirmed patient, such as wearing a mask when going out, avoiding crowded areas, avoiding areas where high-risk groups congregate, ensuring good ventilation, and going out only when necessary.

2. Symptomatic close contacts

Symptomatic close contacts are encouraged to self-isolate and must be tested for RTK-Ag on the first and third day after the onset of symptoms. Outdoor activities should only be allowed once the RTK-AG test is negative and symptoms have subsided.

Close contacts with symptoms are urged to wear masks when going outside, avoid crowded areas, avoid areas where high-risk groups congregate, ensure good ventilation, and go outside only when necessary.

If the illness worsens, people are urged to seek medical attention at a medical clinic.
