Ministry of Health announces shortened quarantine period for entry into Malaysia

In a press conference held in the evening of January 20, Health Minister stated that the Ministry of Health has decided to further shorten the quarantine period for visitors entering the country, with only five days for those who have received booster shots. The new measure will start from Monday, January 24, 2022.

Those who have completed the booster vaccination will only need to be quarantined for 5 days, but they will still need to undergo PCR testing 2 days before, when they arrives, and on the 4th day of quarantine.

For those who have completed two doses of vaccination but have not received a booster, they are required to be quarantined for 7 days upon return, and PCR testing is required 2 days prior to departure, on the day of arrival, and on the 8th day of quarantine. Those who have not been vaccinated or have not completed their vaccinations are required to be quarantined for 10 days, and PCR testing is required 2 days prior to departure, on the day of arrival, and on the 8th day of quarantine.

This new measure is applicable to visitors entering the country from abroad, including Malaysian citizens, permanent residents, foreign nationals, diplomatic missions and any foreigners authorized by the Director General of Immigration.
