Primary and secondary school students are allowed to wear casual clothes to class!
Minister of Education Raziuddin said that school authorities should not force students to wear school uniforms to class. The Ministry of Education has published guidelines for the resumption of classes several months ago, and among them, the Ministry of Education allows students to wear casual clothes to class until the end of the year. Students are only required to wear neat and appropriate clothing.
This measure is intended to reduce the burden on low-income groups. The Ministry of Education has received many complaints from parents whose incomes have been greatly affected and whose children’s school uniforms no longer fit after months of movement control orders. The Ministry of Education has therefore decided to allow students to wear casual clothes to class.
Schools in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Malacca returned to school in phases from November 1 and November 8 onwards. Schools in Johor and Terengganu also returned to school in phases from November 8 and November 14 onwards. Schools in Labuan and Negeri Sembilan, on the other hand, have already started to return to school.
In addition, the Ministry of Education has decided to allow students in examination classes to return to school as a group from November 8, instead of using the shift system. However, this is limited to schools with a vaccination rate of more than 90%.
