Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs announces the extension of the Malaysian family top price scheme until February 4!

The Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs (MTCA) announces the extension of the Single Family Malaysia Top Price Scheme (SHMKM) until 4 February!

 

Under the SHMKM, 12 food items such as chicken, eggs, vegetables and other daily necessities are subject to price control and businesses are not allowed to sell above the ceiling price. The SHMKM was supposed to end on December 31, but now the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs has announced that it will be extended by 35 days, which means it will last until February 4, 2022.

 

According to the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs, since the implementation of the SHMKM, the prices of vegetables and meat have basically stabilized and people no longer have to worry about the high prices of daily food items.

 

Under the Malaysian One Top Price Scheme, the top price of red chillies is RM17.00 per kilogram and tomatoes cannot be sold at more than RM5.50 per kilogram, while the top price of bok choy is RM7.00 per kilogram and cabbage is RM4.50. The top price of long beans is RM7.00 per kilogram and the top price of cucumber is RM4.50.

 

For eggs, the top retail price per grade A egg is RM0.44, while grade B is RM0.42 and grade C is RM0.44. Eggs are graded as follows: grade A eggs 65 to 69.9 grams, grade B eggs 60 to 64.9 grams and grade C eggs 55 to 59.9 grams.

 

The top price of a net chicken with giblets and feet is RM9.30 per kilogram and the top price of a net chicken without giblets and feet is RM10.30 per kilogram.

 

This price is only applicable to the West Malaysia region, the top price for essential items will be different for Sabah and Sarawak.

Net chicken (with giblets): RM9.30 / KG

Net chicken (without giblets): RM10.30 / KG
