KUALA BERANG: In a proactive measure, health department officials and medical personnel have been stationed at all flood evacuation centers in Kuala Berang to conduct Covid-19 screenings on individuals, aiming to avert any potential outbreaks of the virus.
Terengganu’s Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Wan Rukman Wan Hassan, stated that every person entering a relief center will undergo screening and registration by health officers. He emphasized the collaboration with the Health Ministry, ensuring the presence of health officials at each center to monitor incoming evacuees.
“When a victim registers at the center, ministry officials will conduct an initial examination and investigation. If their condition is not satisfactory, the victim will be referred to the hospital for further screening and treatment,” Wan Rukman explained, as reported by Bernama.
As of December 23, Terengganu has reported 1,250 active cases of Covid-19, according to the KKMNow portal. Wan Rukman also issued a reminder for parents to prevent children from playing in floodwaters. Additionally, he advised those planning holiday vacations to take precautions, such as elevating electrical appliances to higher ground in case of flooding.
For added security, Wan Rukman urged residents who won’t be at home to inform the police station in advance, allowing monitoring in the event of flooding. These measures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals during the flood crisis and mitigate the risk of Covid-19 transmission.
