MCMC reminds people to upgrade to 4G network as soon as possible!
People who are still using 3G devices are urged to upgrade to 4G-enabled devices to avoid being left behind in the digital wave, according to an advisory issued by the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The government will shut down the country’s 3G network on December 31.
In the announcement, it was also noted that Celcom, Digi, Maxis, TM and U Mobile have successfully upgraded 1.2 million of their subscribers to 4G. If you are using a SIM that only supports 3G network, you can contact your telecom service provider to upgrade to 4G network to avoid inconvenience.
As of September 30 this year, up to 94.03% of densely populated areas already support 4G network connectivity, with an average network speed of 31.34Mbps on the mobile network.
It is understood that Celcom has been phasing out its 3G network since November, while Digi will only phase out its 3G network from December. After shutting down the 3G network, the telecom service provider will upgrade its network to a 4G network.
