The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has approved the merger of Celcom and Digi. In a circular issued by the MCMC, it was stated that Celcom must sell or close Yoodo after the merger with Digi and Celcom is no longer allowed to hold Yoodo, which is currently a prepaid brand of Celcom.
Celcom must sell Yoodo within 18 months of the completion of its merger with Digi, which will become Celcom Digi Berhad. Celcom must auction Yoodo in the open market, and if it does not successfully sell Yoodo within 18 months, Yoodo must shut down its service within three months of the expiration date.
After Yoodo is shut down, Celcom and Digi will not be allowed to relaunch the Yoodo brand, and Celcom and Digi will not be allowed to take on Yoodo subscribers.
Yoodo’s main feature is customizable service, which means users can choose how much traffic they want for Internet data, how many minutes of dial-up and mobile messaging, and Yoodo will calculate the cost according to your needs.
According to Yoodo’s website, 20GB data costs RM20, 30GB data costs RM35, 40GB data costs RM40, 100GB data costs RM79, 150GB data costs RM88, and 200GB data costs RM98. All these data are valid for 30 days and are on high-speed internet, which means unlimited speed.
