Without a doubt, the national dish of Malaysia is nasi lemak. McDonald’s has fully embraced the meal in recent years, serving their wildly popular Ayam Goreng McD alongside their Nasi Lemak McD.
They are now, however, fully embracing their Nasi Lemak menu and providing a brand-new side dish to go with it: the traditional Rendang Ayam McD.
The rendang ayam was pretty flavourful with a reasonable amount of heat. The rendang itself is not very spicy, making it easy for all ages to enjoy. In fact, the sambal that came with the nasi lemak was slightly spicier than the rendang!
Fans of McDonald’s pies will also enjoy the sweet corn flavoured pie, which boasts their usual crackly crust and creamy sweet corn.
The cendol flavoured McFlurry came as a surprise as to how well the creamy vanilla ice cream works with gula melaka and cendol. It brings to mind a thicker ice kacang to be enjoyed on scorching hot days.
All in all the Nasi Lemak McD with Rendang Ayam is a moderately enjoyable addition to their growing menu.
In addition to that, customers now have the option to choose their favourite burger cutlets too, which means that you can have a plate of Nasi Lemak McD with either the Spicy Chicken McDeluxe Cutlet or the Grilled Chicken Burger (GCB) Cutlet instead!
If you’ve ever been torn between ordering the Nasi Lemak McD and one of your favourite burgers, this is like having the best of both worlds.
