Maybank has announced that it will stop using SMS OTP by June 2023.
According to Maybank, Secure2u authentication will be fully implemented by Maybank by June 2023. This also means that users will no longer receive SMS OTP when conducting banking transactions.
Secure2u is a more secure authentication method, meaning that users can only authenticate transactions on the phone they have registered with, and Secure2u can only be tied to one phone, so if you want to enable Secure2u on a new phone, you will need to untie your old phone first.
There will be a Cooling-off Period when users enable Secure2u on new devices, which means they must wait at least 12 hours before they can use Secure2u on new devices. Users will also receive mobile newsletters, push notifications and email alerts when Secure2u is activated on new devices.
Maybank has also set up a 24/7 hotline for users to report financial fraud at 03-58914744, and Maybank’s customer service hotline is 1300-88-6688.
