Market capitalization ranking of 8 major domestic banks (as of early December)

The National Bank has raised interest rates four times during the year, by 0.25% in May, July, September and November. The overnight policy rate (OPR) has been raised to 2.75% from the previous 1.75%. The interest rate hike by the national bank will be positive for the banking sector, and the market capitalization of the country’s banks has increased compared to a year ago.

Maybank is the largest listed company in the Malaysian stock market and the largest bank in our country in terms of market capitalization, and it is also the only listed company in our country whose market capitalization exceeds RM100 billion. Maybank has been sitting on the throne of the largest market capitalization in Malaysia for many years and no one can shake its position. As of December 2, the share price of Bank Negara was RM8.58 sen.

Public Bank, on the other hand, is the second largest bank in the country by market capitalization. The current market capitalization of Public Bank is RM85.601 billion and the share price is RM4.41 sen. Public Bank’s 52-week low share price is RM3.88 sen and 52-week high share price is RM4.79 sen.

CIMB International Bank (CIMB) has a market capitalization of RM60.151 billion, making it the third largest bank in the country by market capitalization. CIMB’s latest share price is RM5.64 sen, 52-week low is RM4.72 sen and 52-week high is RM5.90 sen.

Hong Leong Bank is the fourth largest bank in Malaysia by market capitalization, with a current market capitalization of RM44.742 billion and a recent share price of RM20.64 sen. The 52-week low share price of Hong Leong Bank is RM17.84 sen, while the 52-week high share price is RM21.88 sen.

The fifth to eighth largest banks in the country in terms of market capitalization are RHB Bank, Am Bank, Alliance Bank and Affin Bank.
