Water bills in Selangor, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu and other places will increase starting from February 1, 2024. If you find that your water bill suddenly spikes next month, it may be due to an increase in the water bill or the staff may have read the water meter incorrectly.
Generally speaking, water meters used in Malaysia have a total of 8 readings. The first 4 readings are black with white background, and the last 4 readings are white with red background. Water bills in Malaysia are calculated in cubic meters (m³), and the last four readings are the decimal points of water consumption.
Here is the water meter reading 07481910 as an example. The water consumption of this reading is 748.1910m³. The meter reader will only read 748m³ when reading water consumption and ignore 0.1910m³.
The water bill will subtract last month’s water meter reading from this month’s water meter reading, so that the user’s water consumption in the latest month can be known.
The charges per cubic meter (m³) vary in each state. You only need to multiply the water consumption by the charge per cubic meter to know your water bill for the month.
