Mamee Monster, a renowned Malaysian snack, is reintroducing its 1970s blue packaging to honor its founder and executive chairman, Datuk Pang Chin Hin, who died in November 2022.
The limited-edition blue box displays the famed Mamee Monster’s retro 2D emblem and will be available in Malaysia and Singapore beginning March 2023. As Mamee Monster used to include mystery gifts in their packaging, the package also includes a collection of stickers.
The World of Nostalgia Mamee Monster campaign theme blends the terms ‘nostalgic’ and ‘now’ to conjure nostalgia while transforming it into something new and current while preserving the appeal of the original Mamee Monster packaging. The campaign capitalizes on the brand’s aesthetic legacy and modernizes it.
All of the features, including the design, color, and music, conjure memories of a simpler time before the rise of the internet and social media, reminding people that even in this fast-paced and ever-changing technological world, we can still find moments of delight, such as eating a pack of Mamee Monster.
From now through March 29, 2023, Mamee Monster fans can win cash prizes and special goods. To enter the sweepstakes, consumers must purchase at least one Retro Mamee Monster family pack and follow Mamee Monster on Instagram.
Participants must snap and upload a creative photo of themselves enjoying the Retro Mamee Monster family pack on Instagram, along with a caption about their favorite Mamee Monster moment, using the hashtag #MameeMonsterWorldofNowstalgia and tagging @iammameemonster.
The competition is open to all Malaysians aged 18 and over. For four weeks, Mamee Monster will choose 80 weekly contest winners, each of whom will receive RM200 in cash, a Retro Mamee Monster limited edition t-shirt, and a backpack.
The Retro Mamee Monster family pack comes in four flavors: Black Pepper, BBQ, Spicy, and Chicken, and costs RM3.50 each. The product is available countrywide in supermarkets, hypermarkets, micro markets, gas stations, and convenience stores, as well as at Mamee Jonker House in Melaka. The product is also available for purchase on Lazada and Shopee.
