Following yesterday’s announcement by Senior Minister of Defense Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri that most of the states in Malaysia have entered Conditional Movement Control Orders (CMCO). Before noon today, Senior Minister of Education Mohd Radzi Md Jidin also announced that the country’s primary, secondary, and technical vocational colleges will be closed directly with the control order until the end of the 2020 semester. This also means that all students will have online classes or other classes at home until December 17 or December 18.
All closed schools also included the states that did not implement Conditional Movement Control Orders, namely Kelantan, Pahang and Perlis. In addition, he also announced that the opening date of 2021 will still be January 20 (Wednesday), including all primary school grades one to six, form one, form four, form five, form six and technical schools. As for Form 2 and Form 3 students, although they start on the same day, they will start home-based learning until March 8, 2021 before they can return to campus. The closure involves 5 million students and 500,000 teachers. For boarding school students, he suggested that parents take their children home, and the children waiting for their parents in the dormitory will be taken care of by the school’s housekeeper.
Due to the current epidemic situation in Malaysia, the upcoming examinations for SPM, SVM, STPM and STAM will be postponed. He also pointed out that this year’s SPM and SVM will be extended to until February 22, 2021; the STPM will be extended until March 8, 2021. The relevant examination details will be announced later. The SPM written test originally scheduled to be held from November 16 to December 7 has also been postponed to January 6, 2021 to February 9, 2021.
Although you don’t have to go to school, you still need to stay home and complete your homework until December 17!
