19/05/2023

A Malaysian couple recently worked together in an effort to illegally get a hired automobile, according to a report by “Oriental Daily,” drawing attention from the community.

According to a spokesperson of the Ampang Jaya Police District, the pair agreed to hire a Proton Preve vehicle for RM700 per month and signed a six-month agreement with the car rental agency on November 28, 2022.

But beginning in March 2023, both of them started skipping rent payments.

To recover the rented vehicle, the company attempted to utilize the installed global positioning system (GPS) but was unsuccessful. They suspected that the GPS system had been removed by the couple. Consequently, the police swiftly initiated an investigation upon receiving the complaint and apprehended the two individuals in Ampang Jaya. The stolen vehicle was recovered, and the individuals were detained for four days under Section 379A of the Penal Code to assist with the investigation.

“The police conducted an immediate investigation upon receiving the complaint and apprehended a 29-year-old contractor and a 44-year-old housewife in Malacca.”
