Malaysia ranks 44th out of 62 countries in the Global AI Index published by the United Kingdom.
According to The Star report, Malaysia scored 19.6 points in the evaluation, with the highest score of 72.2 in the operational environment and 65.3 in infrastructure.
Based on the survey, Malaysia lags behind in terms of talent, research and development, and business. Malaysia received 48.1 points for government strategy.
The Global AI Index, published by Tortoise Media, a London-based news platform founded by former BBC News Director James Harding, analyses investment, innovation, and implementation in three major dimensions, which are further subdivided into seven aspects, including talent, infrastructure, and government strategy.
With a perfect score of 100, the United States ranks first in the ranking, having made tremendous progress in personnel, infrastructure, research and development, and corporate investment.
China is second with a total score of 61.5, and Singapore is third with a total score of 50.
For analysis, the index draws on 28 various data sources, including government papers, international organizations, think tanks, and public databases of commercial corporations.
