The Malaysian Postal Corporation has announced that from March 1, a service tax of 6% will be levied on courier, domestic sea parcels, and motorcycle delivery services exceeding 30 kilograms.
The company said in a social media post today that the three services mentioned above were not subject to any service tax until then.
All mail products and international deliveries will remain at 0% service tax rate, while courier deliveries of up to 30 kilograms will remain at 6% service tax rate, the Malaysian Postal Corporation noted.
The government is implementing the new service tax rate of 8% from March 1, but credit cards, debit cards, food and beverages, telecommunications services, parking services, and logistics services will remain at 6%.
