Make this super easy “Oden” soup base recipe at home! Now you can stay home and enjoy a freshly cooked Oden~

Every time someone mention Family Mart, the delicious oden always came to mind. To satisfy this craving, you can actually cook it yourself at home! It is super easy and simple, plus you can get to enjoy a freshly cooked oden at home without going out! Let’s learn to make this delicious oden soup base~ 

 

The ingredients you need to prepare:

Dried Kelp

Shiitake Mushrooms

Carrot

White radish

Apple

Katsuobushi

Japanese soy sauce

Skewers (meatball, fishcake, beancurd skin, and etc.)

Cooking Method:

Step 1: Soak dried kelp and shiitake mushrooms for 2 hours in advance, and set aside for later use.

Step 2: Cut white radish, carrot and apple into pieces, and put it in a pot.

Step 3: Then add in soaked kelp, shiitake mushrooms, and katsuobushi. Pour in 1.5L of water, and simmer for about 30 minutes.

4. Take out all the base ingredients except white radish and carrots, pour in an appropriate amount of Japanese soy sauce, and the oden soup base is basically ready.

Step 5: Add in your favorite skewers such as meatball, fishcake, beancurd skin and etc., into the soup base and bring it to boil.

Step 6: ENJOY YOUR HOT ODEN! 

The essence of oden is produce from the fresh products such as white radish and kelp, added with a touch of sweet Japanese soy sauce, the whole pot of soup base is full of umami, and all the ingredients are delicious! If you like spicy food, you can also add some chili sauce to the soup, and the hot and spicy oden is complete!
