LOEWE x Howl’s Moving Castle Special Collaboration Series

09/02/2023

After “Totoro” and “A Thousand and One,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” is the last project that Loewe and Studio Ghibli worked on together. First, the collection’s creative director Jonathan Anderson posted a teaser on Instagram. It was a beautiful picture of the sky, but when you looked closer, you could see that it was Howl’s castle!

“Howl’s Moving Castle” by Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli is a childhood memory for many people. The anime, which came out in 2004, was based on the same-titled novel by Diana Wynn Jones, which came out in 1986. The story takes place in a virtual, war-torn kingdom, where Sophie, a shy young hatmaker, is cursed by a witch to become an older woman. She goes on a journey to find her confidence and courage again, meets the wizard Hal, and works with him to stop the war. Anderson also said that this is one of Hayao Miyazaki’s works he likes the most.

Sophie, Howl, Calcifer, Maruk, Inn, Scarecrow, and the Witch of the Waste are all popular characters in the story. They can be incorporated into the joint collection’s design, including Puzzle, Flamenco, Hammock, Amazona, Luna, Bracelet, and other classic PoKuna pieces, as well as small leather pieces, sweaters, jackets, scarves, and other accessories.

The most exciting thing about the animation is that the vast, complicated castle can also be turned into a bag. It combines the best parts of classic bags like the Puzzle, Flamenco, Amazaona, and Hammock to make a bag that stands out and is all it’s own. It’s a “moving castle” you can use to shop.

Calcifer has also been turned into a new scented candle for Loewe’s home fragrance collection. The smoky candles smell of incense, wax daisy, patchouli, vetiver, roasted hazelnut, cardamom, and elemi.

The Loewe X “Howl’s Moving Castle” collection goes on sale on February 2 at Loewe boutiques around the world. You can pre-order the collection on the official website starting on February 1. If you want to get a piece, you have to step up and start!
