Are you planning to buy a new car in near future? Here we bring you the latest license plate numbers for each state in the country as of January 28.
Malaysia’s licence plates are arranged in alphabetical and numerical order and you can tell where the vehicle is registered by the letter of the plate. The first letter of a Malaysian number plate stands for the state of Selangor (B), Johor (J), Penang (P), Kedah (K), Negeri Sembilan (N), Pahang (C), Perak (A), Sabah (S), Sarawak (Q) and so on.
The second and third letters of the alphabet are then used as the order of the number plate. For example, in Selangor, the number plate goes from BQA to BQY and then it will start from BRA to BRY and so on. However, the letters I, O and Z will not be used in the number plates as this is to avoid confusion with the numbers 1, 0 and 2.
As of 28 January 2023, the latest number plate order for Johor is JVX2467, Selangor is BRF4504, Penang is PQQ3802, Perak is AMT7876, Kuala Lumpur is VKC2201, etc. JPJ has also launched an online number plate purchase service, which means that you can directly visit mySIKAP to purchase a number plate.
Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu Sabah are the hottest sellers, with many new cars being registered under these state and regional plates every day.
As people buy new plates every day, the information is changed instantly during the working day.
