5G networks will be tested in late 2021!
Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya will be the first to launch 5G networks by the end of this year!
The Malaysian government has selected Ericsson as its 5G infrastructure partner and will launch 5G networks in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya in late 2021. People in the capital will be the first to try 5G.
The 5G network is expected to be gradually expanded to major cities in five states, such as Selangor, Penang, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak, by 2022. It will be expanded to other cities by 2023, and it is expected that 80% of the country’s residential areas will be covered by 5G by 2024.
According to the communications and Multimedia Committee, the country’s 3G network will be shut down in late 2021, and the COVERAGE and availability of 4G network will be expanded.
