JPJ set the latest price for getting a driver’s license!

02/03/2023

The Ministry of Transport has set the top price for obtaining a driver’s license, and driving schools are not allowed to increase their fees at will, otherwise, they can be dealt with by the authorities!

▼ According to the Land Transport Authority, the maximum fees for the four common types of licenses are

Class B license (for motorcycles over 500cc): RM900
Class B2 license (for motorcycles up to 250cc): RM350
Class D license (driving a manual car with a net weight not exceeding 3500kg): RM1150
Class DA license (to drive an automatic vehicle with a net weight not exceeding 3500kg): RM1250
According to the Minister of Transport, this fee includes the fixed cost of the driving school (IM), government services, car rental, theory and learning to drive, computerized test fees, and various services and miscellaneous fees.

The IM can charge additional fees by providing additional facilities, such as transportation fees, and catering for the candidates, but these are all optional for the candidates.

In addition, if the driving academy increases the fees by providing additional services, the fees, and additional services must be explained to the candidate in detail and the candidate’s consent must be obtained first. If the JPJ receives a report from a member of the public that a driving school is not charging fees as required, it will also conduct an investigation.

In addition, if the driving school is found to be in violation of the rules, its driving school license will be revoked. Share this with your friends who are about to take the driving test!
