According to the report published by the General Inspectorate of Malaysia, there is a risk of personal data leakage in the mySIKAP online system of the Land Transport Department (JPJ). mySIKAP system website is managed by 505639-K.

When users register for the mySIKAP system, they are asked to provide personal information such as name, address, phone number, license plate and email, which are stored in 505639-K’s database and may be made available to third parties.

In accordance with the terms of the company’s safeguarding obligations and privacy policy, by registering as a new user, people have given their consent to the company’s use of personal data to provide to third parties or to provide other related services to the user.

The same risk is faced by myIMMs, the online passport renewal system of the Immigration Service, in that users’ data may be leaked to third parties.

In the report of the General Inspectorate, it was recommended that the Land Transport Authority and the Immigration Service must ensure the security of users’ data in order to avoid the leakage and misuse of personal data.
