Is it X, Threads, Instagram, Snapchat, or Snapchat that users deleted the most in 2023?

Almost 4.8 billion individuals, or 59.9% of the global population, use social media everyday, making it an essential part of our lives. Nonetheless, individuals utilise an average of six to seven social media networks and spend two hours and twenty-four minutes on them due to the fact that people’s attention spans are getting shorter.

various digital behemoths may be impacted by the wide variations in the amount of time people spend on various social networking platforms. For instance, in 2018, American media figure Kylie Jenner tweeted that she didn’t think anybody was still using Snapchat, which caused the company’s worth to drop by around $1 billion.

Similar to this, Meta introduced its Threads app in July with the goal of becoming a “public square for communities” as an alternative to the Twitter (then X) dilemma. As the only service to reach 100 million users in just five days, Meta’s competitor X was the talk of the town in its early days. However, according to statistics from TRG Datacentres, the debutant’s meteoric rise was short-lived, as 80% of its daily active users had dropped by August.

The US-based TRG Datacenters examined the nine most widely used social media networks globally to determine which social media firms had lost customer favour by counting the number of times the phrase “how to delete (my) ___ account” was searched over the course of the previous year.

Data from TRG Datacentres indicates that in 2023, there were over a million searches for “how to delete (my) instagram account,” making Instagram the most popular social media app to be removed.

The second-most popular social networking app among Generation Z is Snapchat, with almost 130,000 users wishing to cancel their account.
