Is it selfishness or insensitivity to bring your dog to McDonald’s?

22/02/2024

Is it selfishness, lack of sensitivity, or is it arbitrary because Muslims are boycotting McDonald’s?

A female customer brought her pet dog to McDonald’s for a meal and was photographed by others and posted online. She was criticized by netizens, and McDonald’s was inevitably criticized.

The Facebook page Penang Press uploaded several photos of the woman yesterday, showing her holding her pet dog on her lap and a man sitting next to her.

The post in question read: “Please respect others in places where people enjoy food, why would you bring your pet to a crowded restaurant?

“Please explain to McDonald’s on Green Grass Lane Road (now State Mosque Road).”

Many Muslim netizens left messages criticizing the woman, and some even bluntly said that modern people, especially non-Muslims, do not respect other races and religions.

“I hope the government can provide this group with more platforms to discuss relevant issues, reduce blind spots in knowledge, and increase awareness of unity.”

However, some netizens believe that taking photos to attack women is a big deal. If it were a pet cat, it would not be posted online.

“People nowadays are mentally weak and want to make everything big, and they have no tolerance or patience. Cats and dogs can be seen roaming around in kampungs, and no one raises any objection to this.”

In response, some netizens said that this was not aimed at dogs and that all pets should not appear in public dining venues.
