iPhone user has RM60,000 stolen after receiving strange call!

16/08/2022

The victim was eating at a restaurant in the evening of July 2 when she was connected to the restaurant’s WiFi, and then received an unfamiliar call from Telegram asking her about nail services.

After confirming her appointment, she called back, but found that the call had been blocked. The victim then habitually checked her bank account and discovered that the money had been transferred within 13 minutes, in six separate transfers. The first two transfers were made by FPX to an unknown company bank account, while the other four were normal bank transfers.

The victim was puzzled by the fact that there was no transfer notification or TAC for the entire transfer process and stated that he had given his phone to a mobile phone shop for formatting a year ago and had not downloaded any software of unknown origin since then.

In this case, it is very likely that the victim was connected to public WiFi and the hacker hacked into the victim’s iPhone through public WiFi to make the transfer.
