According to an external media report, Apple mentioned in an internal memo that Apple will classify the iPhone 6 Plus as obsolete on December 31, 2021. This means that the iPhone 6 Plus will no longer receive updates to the iOS version and will have limited repair services available.
Apple will continue to offer up to seven years of repair service for retro products, though this is still subject to parts availability.
Apple launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2014, which at the time set a record for the most popular Apple smartphone. Both phones carried 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens and led to a wave of small-screen models being phased out of the smartphone market.
The iPhone 6 Plus was discontinued in 2016, although the iPhone 6 is still available through select retailers in 2018. With the release of iOS 13 a few years ago, Apple has dropped support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
