Iowa Man Wins $400,000 Jackpot Hours After Proposing to Girlfriend

07/07/2023

Nick Miller, a 31-year-old man from Bernard, Iowa, recently proposed to his girlfriend, Lauren Timmerman, and was overjoyed to learn that he had won over $400,000 (roughly RM1.86 million) on a lottery ticket he purchased just hours before their engagement.

Nick and his brother headed to a fast-food restaurant for breakfast the next morning after successfully proposing to Lauren on the evening of June 22. While they were there, they noted that the prize for the Super 7s Progressive InstaPlay lottery ticket had nearly reached $400,000. Nick bought a ticket on the spur of the moment.

When Nick returned to his car, he examined the numbers on the ticket and was astounded to discover that several of them matched the winning numbers. He double-checked several times before confirming that he had truly won the prize.

The jackpot had been accruing for more than two months since the game’s start in April, according to the lottery organization, with no winners throughout that time. Finally, Nick’s ticket proved to be the winning one.

Nick said the timing couldn’t have been better because he had just received his girlfriend’s approval of his proposal. The award money will be used to pay for a wedding and potentially a property. “I’m ready for the next stage of my life,” Nick exclaimed.
