Interbank withdrawals are still eligible for RM1.00 fee waiver!

The government implemented the strictest Movement Control Order (MCO) in April last year where people are not allowed to leave their homes within 10 kilometers. At that time, the government announced the suspension of the RM1.00 inter-bank withdrawal fee in order to facilitate people to withdraw money from banks.

Now that the government has opened up inter-state and economic activities, people are still exempted from the RM1.00 withdrawal fee for inter-bank withdrawals. As long as the ATM you are using supports the Malaysian Electronic Payment System (MEPS) service, you do not need to pay the RM1.00 inter-bank withdrawal fee.

Currently, all local banks in Malaysia support MEPS service, which means that people do not need to pay the RM1.00 fee when they withdraw money from other banks. However, each ATM has a limit on the amount that can be withdrawn and some banks have a limit of RM500 for users from other banks.
