In the first three months of this year, the KWSP membership expanded by 146,000, or 57 percent, according to a statement from Finance Minister Tunku Zafrul.
The number of self-paid provident fund self-employed people using i-Saraan also increased by 77 percent in the first quarter of this year, and there are currently 599,000 self-paid provident fund members.
The government introduced the self-contributed provident fund subsidy programme known as i-Saraan. Through this programme, the government will give self-employed people who make EPF contributions a subsidy of up to 15%, or up to RM250.
