In the 17th Epidemiology Week, the overall number of Covid-19 patient admissions into health institutions per 100,000 people declined 15%.

According to Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to public hospitals per 100,000 residents decreased by 20% from the first to the 17th ME.

The number of patients admitted to public hospitals in categories one and two fell by 33% in the 17th ME compared to the 16th ME, while categories three, four, and five remained steady.

In the 17th ME, bed occupancy in non-critical Covid-19 facilities decreased by 22% compared to the 16th ME, while bed occupancy in intensive care units (ICU) decreased by 8%.

As of the 17th ME, bed usage at Low-Risk Covid-19 Treatment Centres (PKRC) had decreased by 75%, and the overall number of cases requiring breathing assistance (ABP) had decreased by 11%,” he added in a statement.

Positive Covid-19 cases are still being monitored by the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) across the country, he said, with patient arrivals down 37% between the 17th and 16th ME.

“The number of new Covid-19 cases undergoing home monitoring decreased by 34.7 percent, while the number of cases sent to PKRC or hospitals by CAC decreased by 33.3 percent.”

As of April 30, he stated, the total number of new cases was 4,448,004, with 45,506 active cases, and the total number of recoveries was 4,366,951, with 35,547 death cases.

As of April 30, the total number of clusters was 7,010, with 84 clusters remaining operational.

According to Dr. Noor Hisham, the number of recoveries on the 17th ME was 56,352 compared to 72,128 on the 16th ME, a decrease of 21.9 percent, while new cases on the 17th ME were 20,937 compared to 44,665 on the 16th ME, a decrease of 53.1 percent.

According to him, the number of local illnesses decreased by 52.8 percent, from 44.193 to 20,876 instances, while imported cases decreased by 87.1 percent, from 472 to 61 cases, and deaths decreased by 37.1 percent, from 82 to 56 cases.

The number of active cases declined by 35.3 percent in the 17th ME compared to the 16th ME, from 637,626 cases to 412,555 cases, while the average RT value decreased by 15.7 percent.
