30,000 individuals are eligible for tax payments but they did not submitted the tax returns.

In our country, more than 30,000 people are qualified to pay taxes but have not yet submitted a tax return.

Around 31,598 people nationwide are qualified to pay the tax but have not yet disclosed their income or submitted a tax return, according to a statement from Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul.

According to data gathered by the Inland Revenue Board through a variety of sources including a poll on individuals with total assets or total loans exceeding RM500,000, 31,598 people did not file tax forms.

There are around 32 million people living in my country, of whom 16 million are workers and only 2.2 million, or 6 to 7 percent, are tax-paying citizens. Only approximately 14 percent of the population pays taxes, which is a really unhealthy scenario when you consider that there are 16 million people who are employed and there are 2.2 million people who pay taxes.

9.6 million people in our nation receive government help, which also means that they do not have enough income to pay taxes. Because so many people haven’t yet achieved the threshold for paying taxes, my nation has a relatively small population of tax-paying citizens. When a person’s annual income surpasses RM36,000, they are qualified to file or pay taxes.
