In Miri, Fire and Rescue Department personnel discover the remains of a croc attack victim.
A woman’s body was discovered yesterday afternoon after she went missing while fishing in Sungai Telong in Batu Niah on Wednesday.
The deceased, Demit Chagai, 43, is suspected to have been the victim of a crocodile attack, according to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Batu Niah station chief Rary Benjie.
The body was discovered by people searching in the Telong Merah river region at 1.30 p.m., some 300 metres from where she was allegedly attacked by a crocodile.
The body was discovered and rescued by firefighters, who then handed it over to police.
According to Rary, the family has claimed the body and returned it to their longhouse.
Demit was claimed to have been pushed into the river by a crocodile while fishing with her mother and aunt at the river.
