The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said that as of September 30, 2022, the network speed (median) of the country’s mobile network had reached 30.65Mbps. The 52.48Mbps benchmark for network speed has been attained.
By 2022, the government wants to see average internet speeds of 35 Mbps. This implies that the government’s objectives have also been met.
Furthermore, Malaysia’s 4G network coverage rate has reached 95.82%, and the government wants to reach 96.9% by the end of this year.
By the end of this year, 7.5 million buildings are expected to host fibre optic networks, according to the government. Malaysia’s fibre optic network had 7.44 million buildings covered as of September 30, 2022. Only 4.96 million buildings supported fiber-optic networks in August of last year.
