The price of Klang Bak Kut Teh will rise in June!
Because of feed shortages and swine disesase, pork prices have risen six times in just five months. Manufacturers of Bak Kut Teh have also been compelled to boost their pricing.
In Klang, an average plate of Bak Kut Teh costs around RM12, while the clay pot costs around RM14. Because of the rise in pig costs, Klang Bak Kut Teh prices may rise by at least RM1 per serving starting in June.
Pig farms mostly use wheat as pig feed, and the global wheat shortage has pushed up the price of pig feed, resulting in higher costs for pig farms and higher pork prices. On various states, outbreaks of African swine fever in pig farms occurred from March to April, resulting throughout a pork shortage in the country.
The price of gultinous rice dumplings will be affected by the pork shortage. Every year, the Dragon Boat Festival takes place on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which falls on June 3 this year. Everyone seems to be able to eat just the most expensive dumplings.
