In Feb, KWSP is expected to announce the dividend payout ratio!

Everyone who works in Malaysia is required to set up a KWSP account. KWSP will distribute investment income to members based on the number of member deposits each year. Last year, during a period of high global inflation, KWSP’s investment income fell by 18% in the first nine months, and the company’s latest dividend may be inadequate.

The KWSP assets had reached RM961 billion as of September 2022, with 36% invested in overseas assets. Overseas investment generated 43% of investment income, or RM5.28 billion. In the first nine months of last year, the EPF received RM63.61 billion in contributions.

The highest interest paid by KWSP in the last 70 years was 8.50% from 1983 to 1987. With a payout ratio of 2.50%, the years with the lowest payout were 1952-1959.

Here we present the EPF payout ratio from 1952 to 2022.
