The igloo style cabin makes your stay more comfortable, environmentally friendly, and innovative Arctic double accommodation close to nature!

29/10/2020

There are many igloo-style accommodations in foreign countries, but this time I introduce the igloo-style bubble accommodation. It seems nothing special, but the special thing is that it is the first cabin in the world to use, and then the accommodation is covered in an igloo style. This accommodation is located in a village called Ice & Light in Swedish Lapland, which can be found near Arctic Circle on both banks of the Kalix River.

This project was developed by Maarit Lindvall three years ago with his niece Emma Strömberg, an architects. The reason why they wanted to develop this project was because they wanted to create a pollution-free and environmentally friendly accommodation environment. So came up with the concept of the cabin, and then only need to use electricity to provide heat and light to reduce the impact on the ecosystem.

Each cabin can only accommodate two people. The interior includes a sleeping area (two single beds or double beds), a small living room and a bathroom. All accommodations are designed in Nordic style. They and local photographer Lennart Åström Decorate these rooms together. The size of the room is neither big nor small, just like a normal hotel room, fully equipped.

Emma said: “We really want to create a comfortable and relaxing private space for anyone who wants to get close to the Arctic nature, but we can’t lose the home comfort and atmosphere of the Scandinavian Arctic Lodge.” Then she said: “Once a separate cabin is designed, we hope to wrap the entire cabin in a huge slightly heated transparent bubble to increase the comfort of guests and to be able to sit comfortably in the cabin in the Arctic nature and look for wild animals, and of course the Northern Lights.”

It is open all year round, and a cabin accommodation for two people starts at USD193 per night. There are also various activities that can be used here, such as: fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and husky tours. But these have to be paid separately, so be aware.

The Arctic accommodation is designed with environmental protection concept, and you can also get close to the nature of the Arctic, so that you can really enjoy a time in a pollution-free environment.
