Attention all motorists! You can be fined up to RM2,000 if your car’s high level brake light is damaged and not on.

Brake light is one of the most critical parts of your car. If your car’s brake light is damaged, you are advised to get it replaced.

It is very dangerous to drive on the road with no brake light on. When you apply the brakes, the car behind you will not know that you are braking, which may result in a rear-end collision.

According to Section 119(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987, if your car’s high level brake light is not on and you are still driving on the road, you can be fined up to RM2000.

To be on the safe side, you should check your brake light before you go out. Since the brake light is at the back of the car, you may not be able to check it yourself, but you can use the reflection of the glass window at home to know whether the brake light is working or not. Or you can ask a friend or relative to help you check.

Drive with a lot of energy and care, as concerned loved ones are waiting for you to get home.
