If there is a drought in the Klang Valley, there is enough water to last for 8 months.

If a drought strikes the Klang Valley in 2025, as predicted, the region’s water supply would last for eight months, according to the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS).

Hasrolnizam Shaari, the organization’s director, said that during a drought, water would be provided through three methods: dams, reservoirs, and groundwater, each of which might last two to four months.

It was able to offer a supply of 5,000 million litres per day using the three ways, which was similar to present production volume.

To continue to protect water quality through preventing pollution events, LUAS requires collaboration and commitment from all parties.

He also stated that cloud seeding would be utilised as a last resort. Hasrolnizam stated that the Zero Disharge Policy (ZDP) will be implemented by August at the latest, subject to the state government’s approval.

LUAS seeks to ensure that all parties are committed to reducing the amount of water discharged on a daily basis for operations, particularly in factories or sites.

The cost or payment for the ZDP is still being negotiated in engagement sessions with stakeholders and factories, including rivers, drains, and estuaries, which will be reused for environmental conservation objectives.
